Miguel "Frunkyman" Leyva—is a Northern California-based composer, bassist, and experimenter of groove. With roots in composition and orchestration from the Hollywood scene and a career across jazz, funk, and studio work, he’s on a mission to bring Earth to experience the “frunk,” a funk-forward, cinematic live experience. His body of work includes cinematic credits as a composer and projects that bear the stamp of the Frunkyman sound. His seven-piece Frunkyman Mothership powers a high-voltage show that defies easy labels and invites audiences on a sonic funk-journey. Recent highlights include Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Resident Artist (2024), San José Jazz New Works Awardee (2022), San José Jazz Summer Fest ’23, Blues & Brews 2022–23, Featured Artist/Resident at the San José Museum of Art, and the DYKSJ Artist Series.
